So ive only had my new (to me) 2000 suzuki bandit 600s for a few days and im havng a problem with the helmet lock/ seat release being stuck- it will not completely close the helmet lock or release the seat, cleaning and lubricating the lock tumbler and helmet hook didn't help. i'm going to pull it off during lunch tomorrow (since i don't have the torx head screwdrivers to remove it at home) to see if something is broken - any other advice/experiences?

Does it operate by key at the ignition switch(like steering lock) or is it operated at a remote tumbler on the frame. Look for a cable and/or spring that's invovled, they never get attention.

I had an issue with the cable on mine, the cable jacket had come loose from the bracket where the key was. I just had to pop it back in and everything was good.

Elaine, Did you try using Graphite to lube the loke up or a general purpose lubricant? Sounds like a nice bike though. I had one too! Loved it. Cant Wait To see it.

so an update- i had used some WD-40 on the lock, today at work i was able to take the lock off (its attached to the side of the bike, above the left passenger footrest support) the cable is fully functional, i disassembled the lock itself (dumped all the parts out on my desk without looking at how they were put together, whoops) i cleaned it out, ended up using a screwdriver to pop out this little bullet shaped thing out from a spring, put it back, reassembled the whole thing and now it workstongue thanks to everyone that pitched in ideas and help!
