Hi all...greetings from Albuquerque and all this damm snow every other day....
Some incidents occurred that sparked me to speak. I spoke with Albert yesterday...do you really ever pay attention to where you park??...or what you are parking in??? Albert, unfortunately parked in a puddle of oil, not noticing until he came out of the McDonalds to leave. Albert left the parking lot not aware of how much oil was on his tire still...his tire spun out and grabbed as he took off, pulling him into a wheelie and throwing his from his bike...his bike landing on him...aside from a large bruise and damage to his bike, he is ok. Awareness of your surroundings. Some of you may have heard about the fatality in Phoenix last week; a masonry employee ran over another companies employee killing him instantly and leaving him unrecognizable...it took some time to figure out who this person was. The operator of the forklift never saw the other employee...the employee never knew what hit him as it was from behind. I was working in Sedona the previous two weeks...I personally removed this company from my site for three days for safety issues just prior to this incident (the forklift operator was one of those people)...unfortunately, look what followed. Awareness of your surroundings. Be aware of what's in front of you, well in front of you, who is behind you, and your blind spots. If available and affordable..where full leathers...they will save you over the common jeans. A safety walk-around is always good before any ride...check your equipment and your gear...a simple daily inspection may reveal what you believe is or has been "always ok"... can't wait to ride with you all again....this 45 days can't go by fast enough. -Be safe- |

yup, great insight Rob, thanks.
Another place to watch for frequent oil spots or puddles - when rolling up to a stop sign or light; try not to stop your tire in one, or put your foot down in one. |
