We have added this folder to increase awareness about safety in group rides. Please check from time to time whether you're new or experienced. You can never be too safe on group rides. We get a lot of new people and hope this not only increases safety measures but also helps them feel a little more at ease riding with us as groups can be a bit intimidating at first. There are a couple rules we stress and you'll hear them over and over.
1) ABSOLUTELY NO passing on the right 2) NO same lane passing UNLESS the person in front of you has acknowledged you and has waived you by 3) in that same token please keep your eye on riders behind you and if you see someone that looks like they want to pass move to the right and waive them by. It's basic consideration but only works if both riders do their part. 4) please always wear as much protective gear as you have available. We know the heat makes it hard for some but we've all seen what can happen if proper gear is not worn. Just in the time I've ridden with this group I've seen more ground skin than I care to think about and most could have been prevented. We do a lot of freeway and open road riding where limits exceed the lower limits in town so please, lets all ride smart. Always remember to ride your own ride. I'm usually at the back but even I have been guilty of trying to keep up with the person in front of me without even realizing I was doing it. Group rides are for spending time with fellow riders, making new friends, and seeing new places you wouldn't want to go alone - not to push the limits of your bike or yourself. With that said Lets keep it safe, smart and rubber side DOWN! |
