It's said to be a long on going TSB tradition that we meet and ride up to windy point on Mt. L. on the first day of each year... well OK so if that's not true lets start it!! lol The BMW group does this every year. and this year will be no diff. we should be able to blend in with them well ha ha. once at WP we can enjoy hot coffee or a beverage of your choice that you'll need to bring with you. after the traditional New Years wishing we can make our way down for brunch in any one of the fine restaurants in Tucson like (Hooters.... lol). Hope to see you all out there!! Happy New Year.

The reason we did not break this group us was due to the slow nature of the ride. Any time we have more than a few riders we do break up into groups and regather at points along the way. I thank you all for the feed back and will breakup large groups even on slower rides in the future. :)

I agree to an extent on the break up into 2 groups on other rides. On this ride it was briefed as a slow ride and since I was in the front and am more than capable of riding much faster I kept the pace where it needed to be. It is good for the newer riders to be in the mix and have a more experienced rider behind them that can critique the new/slower riders riding technique.

I agree Tyne. Also at Pre-trip the leader usually says for the faster guys to pull out in line first. I was at the back coming down too, and I did not have a problem with the pace. Goal for the day was ride up legally and avoid attention from the cops. Job well done. There is no need to single anyone out. Everyone did a great job and it was a fun ride.

I'm not sure we need to break the group into 2 groups, however, I do agree that the people that know they're slower riders need to follow in the back and waive people by if needed as I can understand your frustration. This is something we will address on future rides. Thank you for the input.

Today's ride was GREAT. It was a little slow up(and down for some) but we had no issues with Sheriff's and everyone made it safe. This was our second largest turn out. THANK YOU to everyone who made. 2010 is going to be a GREAT year.

William, you mentioned the BMW group doing this every year. Are they doing a separate ride or riding with us?

This should be a GREAT turn out. I want to set everyone's expectations now. This will NOT be a race up the Mt. This ride will be done in staggered formation till we get to the curves then we will switch to single file. With a group this size we will be noticed and I do not want to give the sheriff any reason to harass us. :)

It was a beautiful day and, as always, a great road. It was nice seeing everyone and meeting new friends. Even though this was a, "take it easy" ride, I think we need to break the group into fast and slow riders, which we didn't do. On both the way up and back down, I found myself several bikes behind a rider who was doing below the 35 MPH speed limit for much of the ride. Don't get me wrong, we all have to ride our own ride, but it would have been nice to hit 4th gear and approach 45 MPH for some of the ride without illegally passing half the procession. It would be nice for slower riders to line up at the back when on a run with no legal passing.

Other than the 25mph up due to a clueless out of towner this ride was perfect. HUGE turn out, gorgeous weather, great people. Thank you everyone for making this ride what it was. Happy New Year and we hope to see all of you out with us in 2010. Oh also.. I wanted to mention that the formation was flawless. Probably the best I've ever seen on a ride. Awesome!
    •  Great meet and greet! I meet new people at each event. Now remembering everyones name is a different story.........
    •  Great turnout! So glad we had a strong showing. Truly was the slowest trip up to WP Ive ever done but it was great.

Was a great ride. A little on the slow side on the way up, but with so many riders, cyclists on the road and the construction, probably not a bad thing.
    •  It was a great start to the new year,2nd largest ride group has had. all went well.beatiful day.

Nice slow/relaxed ride up the mountain, a little more "spirited" on the way down. No cops on the mt. I saw 1 DPS out near my house. It was a great start to the new year and a good time. It was nice seeing everyone again.
